Artist Statement

My art is my search
It has become a continuum of events, recordings and changes….

It is an unfolding of that which is truly present but not always seen.
I find myself in the process that explores the relationship between our internal, creative forces and that of the world's universal language.

The Series: Flesh & Rust, (Photography & Encaustic) explores the passage of time by the juxtaposition of disparate elements: the softness of the flesh/ the hardness of rust… It addresses the process of aging and change.

My Encaustic panels are constructed in layers that are filled in, scraped down, carved into, or piled up, just like layers of earth. I enjoy working at multiple levels; I let each material speak not always knowing the result, but accepting it, without question.
